Southeast Computer Club organized Battle of Bytes eSports Tournament

Southeast University’s (SEU) vibrant Battle of the Bytes eSports tournament in association with Bangladesh Youth Development and ESports Association (BYDESA), concluded on May 8th with a prize-giving ceremony celebrating exceptional talent and fostering a thriving eSports scene in Bangladesh.

The grand finale, held on May 7th on the university campus, saw ‘SEU Underdogs’ claiming victory in the Valorant division, defeating ‘DeathWish’ with a score of 2-0 points. In the EA FC 24 category, Arman Kayes took the championship followed by Mahin Uddin and Al Amin Md Tanvir as first and second runners-up respectively.

The prestigious event welcomed esteemed guests, including Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Honorable Advisor, BOT, Southeast University Trust as the Chief Guest and Mr. Md. Nafiul Islam, Head of Production, Bangladesh Youth Development and Electronics Sports Association (BYDESA) as the Special Guest. They delivered motivational speeches that highlighted the merits of eSports as a notable platform for skill building, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Prof. Dr. M. Mofazzal Hossain, Acting Vice Chancellor of Southeast University, and Prof. Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, Professor, Department of CSE, graced the ceremony with their presence and motivational remarks. Mr. Shahriar Manzoor, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of CSE, chaired the program.

The tournament’s success stemmed from the dedicated efforts of various university departments including Coordinators from the department, the CSE program office, the Office of IT, and Southeast University’s supportive alumni.

Behind every successful event there are the unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes: Computer Club’s moderator and assistant moderator and dedicated volunteers, whose constant efforts and commitment played an integral role in ensuring the tournament’s smooth execution.

“The Battle of the Bytes tournament showcased the remarkable talent and dedication within Bangladesh’s eSports community,” said Mr. Shahriar Manzoor. “We were truly impressed by the participants’ hard work, exceptional performance, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The tournament serves as a reflection of Southeast University’s commitment to fostering a vibrant eSports culture, encouraging skill development, and building camaraderie within the gaming community. As eSports continues to flourish in Bangladesh, SEU reaffirms its dedication to nurturing the future of this exciting digital sports trend in the country.

Following the prize-giving ceremony, the participants and attendees were treated to an engaging cultural performance by members of the Southeast Computer Club, featuring a musical act by the metal band Sepai, and an act by former student Aminul Islam and his team.
